Job Description

Nippon International Cooperation for Community Development (NICCOD) is a Japan-based non-governmental organization which was founded in Kyoto in 1979. For the past four decades, NICCOD dedicated itself in emergency disaster assistance, self-reliance support, rural environment protection and human resource development in more than 20 countries in Asia, Middle East and Africa.
2. NICCOD in Jordan
Subsequent to launching a micro credit project in Karak in 1993, NICCOD has been implementing a wide range of projects in various areas across Jordan. Since the onset of Syrian crisis, it has also engaged in humanitarian support activities for Syrian refugees and Jordanian impoverished people.
In March 2020, NICCOD started a new project ‟Supporting Implementation of Correctional Services Focused on Psychological Care at the Rehabilitation Centre in Russeifa”. The project covers efforts to improve the environment of correctional education and rehabilitation activities at the juvenile rehabilitation centre in Russeifa, develop the psychological support capacity of staff and organize an opportunity to exchange opinions with local communities and the rehabilitation centre.
3. Project Coordinator in the NICCOD projects
The Project Coordinator will work with administrative manager and two field officers under the supervision of Japanese staff and be responsible for any kinds of coordination-related tasks to ensure the project is conducted in a timely and effective manner with particular attention to quality aspects. The position also assists in the data collection of the project, creation of progress reports and supports the logistical and administrative arrangement relevant to the project implementation.
4. Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will have the following tasks and responsibilities:
Ø  Coordination of project activities with relevant (internal/external) parties.
Ø  Undertake all logistical, administrative and financial arrangements for the project implementation, meetings, workshops, events and monitoring.
Ø  Management of the activity schedule and attendance of workshop facilitators.
Ø  Prepare payment requests and receipt vouchers, and record activity expenses on accounting books.
Ø  Draft monthly progress reports and final report of the project, and report the progress of the project to Japanese staff.
Ø  Combine and rearrange project data from source documents and store it into prescribed computer database, files and forms in English.
Ø  Craft official letters and documents in English and Arabic for the procurement contract and long-term agreement.
Ø  Liaise with Japanese staff and external specialists to monitor the implementation of activities and respond to requests for more information.
Ø  Logistical support to the formulation of new projects, programme development and fundraising when requested.
Ø  Conduct a survey and formulate a concept note for a new project when requested.
Ø  Participate to the Working Group in relation to the project when requested,
Ø  Any other duties when requested

Till 2nd March 2021 (including 1 month probationary period).
The contract will be renewable according to the performance and funding.

Qualifications / Job Requirements
Ø  Strong intention to work as a NICCOD staff and a bridge between Jordan and Japan.
Ø  Bachelor’s Degree in social development field (International relations, Psychology, Agriculture, Civil Engineering, Computer Science or Business Administration, etc.).
Ø  Strong proficiency in English and Arabic (Oral and Written). Having strong ability to craft documents in English and Arabic, translate and interpret between English and Arabic (classical Arabic).
Ø  Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and use of relevant IT solutions. Ability to use widely supported internet browsers. *PC proficiency test maybe conducted during the interview.
Ø  Proven working experience in project management and coordination (at NGO, governmental organizations, private companies, etc.).
Ø  Deep understanding in development cooperation with knowledge of policies, practices and trends in Jordan.
Ø  Drafting project proposals, concept notes in the field of social development for different donors.
Ø  Ability to identify and contribute to the solution of problems/issues with very good analytical skills and knowledge of various research methodologies, theories, concepts relevant to social development project.
Ø  Good planning and organizational skills with strong sense of responsibility and pride in work. Motivated by professional objectives as a member of humanitarian NGO rather than personal concerns.
Ø  Good communication skills with respect to others and understanding of diversity in multicultural working environments.
Ø  Strong flexibility under pressure and in response to changing needs.
Ø  Basic Japanese language ability is preferable.
